As someone who spends a decent amount of time taking his Jeep Cherokee out on the trail, it is always disappointing to see a 4×4 that never sees a lick of dirt. You have to laugh when you see a lifted truck, covered in chrome, and you know that it has never been off the pavement once in its life. The truck you see here might be one of the worst offenders.
In August of 2013, supercar manufacturer Gumpert filed for bankruptcy, after a deal fell through that could have saved the company. Formally known as Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur, it produced one of the maddest cars on the planet– the twin-turbo V8 Apollo. When the company went under, we thought we had heard the last of the astrologically named supercar, but it’s back– albeit as the base for another company’s product.
Mansory is known around the world for some of the most creative and often insane vehicles customization projects. At this year’s Geneva Motor Show, they really outdid themselves. But in the best way possible.
We’re more than ready for this year’s Geneva Motor Show. And that’s good news, because it seems like every automaker has pulled something out from under a sheet and prepared to show it off.
From the speed demons to the city dwellers, and from the supercars to the not-so-super-cars, here’s what you can expect at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show:
Welcome to the future everyone, glad you could make it. Remember back, say, 30 years ago when 400-, 500-hp was a shot to the moon and back for automakers? Yeah, well, times have changed. Lately, automakers, tuners, and people with too much time on their hands, are claiming everything from 2,800-hp people murdering hypercars, to 288 mph Bugatti’s that will run out of gas if you look at them funny.
If we’re being honest though, it’s all just sort of ridiculous.
The GTI has proven itself to be one of the most fun little hatchbacks on the planet. Even more so its hopped-up Golf R counterpart. But take the high-revving Golf R, put it in the hands of German tuners ABT Sportsline — and you have a Golf fit for the track.
There’s no denying that the Ford F-150 Raptor is one of the most badass trucks on the planet. It’s got a massive V8, off-road tires, lifted suspension, and a full makeover that makes other trucks look tame. But GeigerCars thought it needed to be even more powerful, more capable…and more green.
Ah, America, it’s pretty great isn’t it? A wondrous land of cheeseburgers, Grumpy Cat, and the Chevy Corvette. But there’s only one thing that could make the Chevy Corvette even more ‘Merican than it already is — handing it over to Texan tuners Hennessey, of course.
The Land Rover Defender is arguably the UK’s more durable off-roader, and it has been on the market for over 30 years. But what happens when everyone’s favorite 4×4 gets the A. Kahn Design treatment? Two gorgeously tuned off-roaders, that’s what.
