2012 was kind of a big year for Twitter. Mostly due to continued growth and a new advertising platform designed to generate beaucoup cash for the New York City-based startup and therefore make Twitter better. It seems to be working and Twitter is more popular than ever. It’s microblogging formula of posts limited to to 140 characters is all meat with no fat and no fluff, just like a good steak.

Thierry is a writer and car enthusiast living in New York. Having given up his childhood dreams of becoming a race car driver for an overpriced apartment in Brooklyn, he’s now letting his love of cars loose on the BoldRide blog. Aston Martin: made famous by James Bond, adored by car fanatics, lovers of design aesthetics and men in tweed jackets. For over 98 years the brand has brought the perfect combination of power, elegance and speed to the road through an exclusive line of hand built road cars.
When people say the apple doesn’t fall from the tree they basically mean that trashy parents make for equally trashy kids. Exhibit A: this 1977 Datsun 280Z for sale on eBay. In addition to being painted an obnoxiously loud shade of yellow, and sporting some less than flattering wheels, the yellow 280z pictured here makes use of a tattooed dirty blonde 20 year old with facial piercings for added ‘gotta have it’ factor. Well all know sex sells, but please allow us to explain further.
In the latest edition of “I’d Do Anything to Drive That” Tim Allen’s Chevrolet Impala was stolen by a man claiming to be his son. The man, Faustino Ibarra, claims to be Tim Allen’s adopted son and said the thousand mile drive to Denver was orchestrated by Tim Allen himself. There is no public record of the adoption, and it’s believed that Ibarra has been stalking the star for several years now.
John Hennessey has become a household name among tuning fans. For the last 20 years the Sealy, Texas-based tuner has managed to extract serious horsepower out of some already-fast cars. What began as a small Texas outfit specializing in turning Dodge Vipers into twin-turbocharged man-eating snakes grew into a full scale multi-million dollar operation that does everything from engine tuning, to bespoke body kits, interior customization, and accessories for most manufacturers. There is even a school for up-and-coming automotive tuners. Yes, John Hennessey is also a professor of high-horsepower wizardry.

If you live in a major city, you’re well aware that car ownership is a laborious chore. I recently recieved a six month insurance quote for a 1989 BMW 325is that was a half the value of the car I was trying to purchase. “Yeah that makes sense, hold on while I grab my credit card, Geico.” So what’s an urbanite to do if they need a car to get out to a party in the middle of nowhere, or buy some cool home accessories from a trendy furniture store that “doesn’t believe” in delivery service? Please allow us to suggest an alternative: peer-to-peer car sharing.
We have very mixed opinions about hybrids and electric vehicles here at Boldride. But the 2012 Kepler Motion may have just pushed us over the edge, and we’ve fallen head over heels for this electric 800-hp hybrid supercar.
Earlier this week, we may or may not have reported on the disappointing news that the Ford Mustang Boss 302 will be discontinued for the 2014 model year. If you were thinking about acquiring the V8 American beast, we strongly encourage you to go out and sign your life away in order to acquire one.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is finally here. After nearly two years of rumors, heavy camouflaged cars running around the Nürburgring making all sorts of glorious noises, and several special edition models, Mercedes-Benz released official pictures of its most focused supercar ever ahead of its official debut at the 2012 LA Auto Show.
