If you ever tune in to Discovery Channel’s Fast N’ Loud, you know that the boys over at Gas Monkey Garage are a rowdy bunch fond of burnouts and making things go fast. Their Ferrari F40 build — which we’ve featured in the past — was one of the Texas tuners biggest projects to date. But hows about something a little more all-American?
This is their latest big build — a 1960 one-owner Chevrolet Bel Air. Of course, like any other project car that owner Richard Rawlings brings limping into the shop, this Chevy went through a massive overhaul.
First impression and it’s plain to see that this isn’t your average everyday classic Bel Air. The team added on a clean set of aftermarket wheels, dropped the suspension, and shined up the original silky black paint scheme and chrome inserts. Inside it also received a full vinyl makeover.
Under the hood, the crew swapped out the standard V8 in place of a more modern, Chevrolet Camaro LS3 V8. From factory, the engine puts out an impressive 400 horsepower, not including the many adjustments made after the fact.
In total, this classic Bel Air is one badass build. New engine, new shoes, and a signature style that leaves people staring for days. Watch a quick video of the build from Fast N’ Loud below:
