The new Corvette Stingray is a quick car. Everybody knows this. But exactly how quick the new ‘Vette can get down the 1/4 mile was something that had yet to be determined. That was, until yesterday, when the first customer-owned Stingray ran a quarter mile at Hennessey’s proving grounds.
When the hammer dropped, the Corvette finished with an quick (for a mass-market production car), 12.23-seconds at 114.88 mph. Exactly zero work had been done to this car, and even more impressive, it was done with Chevy’s 6-speed automatic transmission. Sorry, manual lovers.
Watch it here:
You can count on the fact that Hennessey did this as a baseline test for what is to be an impressive set of tunes and modifications in the near future. We’ll be waiting to see what the Texas tuner cooks up.
