Tesla is on the move. Following some of the most highly-praised crash test ratings in history, news from Green Car Reports claims that Tesla is planning yet another new vehicle in the lineup; the Model E.
Alongside the Model X SUV, the Model E would arrive in 2015 as a mid-size sedan sitting neatly under the current Model S. This triumvirate of vehicles would give Tesla a broader market base and possibly allow the brand to soften up prices. This would also pave the way for a Roadster replacement come 2016.
Along with the new Model E, Tesla hopes to further expand its reach into European and Asian markets- this includes ongoing talks of manufacturing plants overseas and across the US. CEO Elon Musk told Bloomberg:
“We’ll try to locate those close to where people are, close to where the customers are, to minimize the logistics costs of getting the car to them. I think the long-term you can see Tesla establishing factories in Europe, in other parts of the US and in Asia.”
All these plans are very much still in the process of being finalized. But don’t expect anything less than three new vehicles from the automaker come 2016.
