We’re inching ever closer to the beginning of the auto show season, kicking off with one of the most anticipated shows of the year; Frankfurt. With it, comes a host of new reveals– both concept and production– on display for the world to drool over.
With September 10th (the first official press day) only but two weeks away, it seems like a perfect time give you a fresh look at some of the bigger reveals to expect on opening day:
One of the first concepts we’ve covered heavily is the all-new Quattro, set to take center stage at the Audi booth. Under the hood, we doubt we’ll see anything less than the expected 700 horsepower, twin-turbo V8 and a top speed of 205 mph.
The i3, i8 and M4 are all set to make an appearance under the lights. The sensible i3 sports 170 horsepower worth of electric efficiency, while the bold and brash i8 comes in at the opposite end of the spectrum, with 395 all-electric horsepower and a sporty layout.
But the piece de resistance is BMW’s M4. No power figures have officially been given, but early rumors suggest 414 horsepower via a twin-turbo inline-six, minus the benefit of a manual transmission.
Getting a minor makeover for 2014, Chevrolet will put both the standard and drop top iteration of its all new Camaro on display. This will mark the Camaro convertible’s first appearance in Frankfurt.
A very “Speciale” Ferrari is headed to Germany. A Ferrari 458 Speciale, to be exact. While it may not be the Scuderia 458 we were all hoping for (although don’t count it out…), the Speciale comes with a menacing 597 horsepower, generated from a naturally aspirated V8 (the most powerful V8 Ferrari’s ever built).
Where Ferrari is having a bit of fun with its 458, Lamborghini is prepping its equally astonishing to look at LP570-4 Squadra Corse for a Frankfurt debut. At 570 horsepower, the Squadra Corse is no slouch, and judging by its looks, its ready to turn some heads.
Also expect the much anticipated Gallardo replacement (aka Cabrera) to make its first appearance.
We’re not entirely sure what Lexus has planned for Frankfurt just yet. With details slim, all we can go by is a relatively unrevealing teaser photo. But if rumors are to be believed, it could be the automaker’s new RC F coupe or a reborn IS F. Only time will tell.
Opel’s wide-eyed winged concept is ready for the spotlight come September. Reviving the classic Monza nameplate, Opel and Vauxhall plan to preview of the future of the lineup via this handsome coupe.
Peugeot is set to show off one mad, two-tone, hot hatch- the 308 R. It’s a 270-horsepower R concept for the ages. Alongside will sit its fresh (less insane) new Peugeot siblings.
Not to be outdone by Peugeot, V-Dub is dishing out a hot hatch of its own with a fresh new Golf R. With nearly 300 horsepower on tap, the new power and design is sure to leave enthusiasts lusting.
Conjuring up memories of the iconic P1800, the handsome Volvo Concept Coupe will preview the future direction of design and technology for the Swedish automaker when it takes to the stage.
