Spy shots reveal that McLaren is testing a new mid-engined sportscar, spotted with mild camouflage in Germany. This car is said to feature a 3.8-liter V8 and compete with the likes of the Porsche 911. But that sounds an awful lot like the current MP4-12C… So what is this vehicle testing? If the conjecture is to be believed, McLaren is already planning a replacement for the 12C, and it is called the P13.
According to Bureau of Speed, the P13 would be an ‘entry-level’ supercar, and would essentially be a refined version of the 12C. Output would continue to be in the 450-horsepower range, and sales are targeted at 2,500 units annually. Rumored changes include a more powerful option to the same 3.8-liter engine, and the move away from the current headlights to full-LED assemblies.
If you’re interested in getting your hands on a P13 yourself, you might need some deep pockets and just a bit of patience. Debut is scheduled for sometime in 2015, and will likely carry a price of £120,000 ($183,800).
