The McLaren MP4-12C‘s been on the market for a number of years now, and it’s already proven itself as one of the most competent supercars in the game. With about 616-hp coming from the 3.8L V8, and a 0-60 mph time of just 3.1 seconds- like I said, the thing is no slouch.
But as the 2014 model year inches closer, and the new P1 hypercar has been shown around the world before a few interested parties- complete with the same highly-tuned 3.8L V8 good for some 727-hp- expect the new 12C to sit somewhere a wee bit closer to the P1′s basic power figures.
Talking to Jalopnik, McLaren engineers weren’t ready to dish out any solid figures just yet. Saying that power level is “undetermined at this time.” But we expect power figures to range somewhere in the neighborhood of 650-660, a considerable increase from the 616 found in the current model, and even closer still to the 727-hp found inside the engine of the P1.
Expect any sort of details from McLaren on the issue closer to a release date near the end of this year.
