Unbelievably, Michael Bay is still making freaking Transformers movies. While we can do without the nausea-inducing editing style and shallow dialogue, we can’t seem to get enough of the cars from the films. Bay knows this, and on his site and his Facebook page, he debuted three new vehicles for the next installment. Incredibly, only one of them is from General Motors.
The vehicle you see above is (obviously) the new Optimus Prime. While the previous leader of the Autobots had a more traditional truck as base, this new rig is from Western Star, which is a subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America. Call us crazy, but if you are the leader of an alien robot race, and are trying to hide among human society, a one-of-a-kind semi cab might not be the best way to go about it. We digress.
Next up is this Bugatti Veyron Gran Sport Vitesse. Once again, not subtle, but considering how GM cars are (almost) exclusively cast as the “good guys,” the $1.4 million ride is most certainly some villan.
To cap off this triumvirate of outgoing rides, we have the new Corvette Stingray. Considering how new and rare it is, a stock version most certainly be a sight on the open roads right now, but this model has been upgraded with an added lower front valence and side skirts, as well as a large, fixed-wing spoiler. The whole package is set of with an electric green-on-black paint scheme.
In all, it has our interest piqued for the next Transformers film. Of course that will be until we see the first trailer, and remember why these films cause us to roll our eyes.
