We’ve played this game in the past with Infiniti- flagship or not to flagship? That is the question. Between the LE, the Emerg-E and a possible GT-R-based halo car; Infiniti is all sorts of indecisive.
But sitting down with Car and Driver recently, Infiniti CEO Johan de Nysschen was pretty adamant at the idea of a high-performance sportscar; finally. Saying, “I think we need some kind of sexy sportscar that might share power trains and platforms, with a range-topping sedan.,” which he also told the publication.
While de Nysschen did say that they were preparing a “sexy” sports coupe, he also went on to shoot down any ideas of a production-spec Emer-G concept for the simple fact: “The world isn’t ready yet for a $200,000 Infiniti.” True dat.
Infiniti hasn’t given any further details as to what kind of power each will carry, but we expect some form of a turbocharged V6 when it goes into testing.
