The Toyota GT 86/Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S is a car for which there are few complaints. Maybe a styling quirk here, an engine note there, but overall, the Toyobaru is one of the best vehicles, well, ever.
But we’re American, so naturally, we find someone or something to complain about relatively easy; like this brand new Toyota GT 86 TRD. I hate it. Why? Not because it has drop-dead gorgeous new lines like a revised front fascia, fog lights or new wheels. And not because of the dapper rear wing or quad exhausts. Nope. My angst lies in the fact that it is not available to the United States. Thus, I hate it.
Set to go on sale in the UK (of course) later in the year, it comes with the standard 2.0L 4-cylinder boxer engine, still gets up to the 200-hp mark and reaches 60 mph in 7.7 seconds and will run in a limited edition of only 250.
Good/bad news for us, all this sexy won’t come cheap. At a base of around £31,495 (approx. $49,588) and racking up even more with an automatic transmission, this Toyota sportscar goodness is an expensive example of beauty and finesse packed into a TRD body and handed off to Europeans. Bitter? Us? No.
