While Mercedes-Benz may have AMG as its in-house motorsport wing, the BRABUS tuning house also plays a critical role for seekers of high-performance Mercs. Known for taking already-potent AMGs and tuning them through the stratosphere, BRABUS has a new offering, and its coming to the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
Dubbed the BRABUS 800 Roadster, this drop-top is based on the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG. One may think that the Biturbo V12 is plenty powerful, but BRABUS has tuned the six-liter 12-cylinder engine up to 788 horsepower, and torque of 1,047 pound feet. That’s some serious oomph. To handle all that air being rushed through the V12′s induction system, BRABUS engineers have fitted it with high performance manifolds, with integrated housings for the turbos.
Visual indication of the power within include a carbon fiber hood scoop, lower front spoiler and and side skirts all around and a stainless steel exhaust system with a butterfly valve that lets the exhaust flow more freely when needed. Look for the 2013 BRABUS 800 Roadster when it goes on display at the Geneva motor show next week!
