We’ve already shown you a beautiful 1968 Shelby Cobra GT500 KR that is being auctioned off at the Mecum 2012 Dallas car auction happening next week, September 5th-8th. In our opinion, that was one of the coolest cars crossing the auction block…it was. We love Corvettes at BoldRide, but the first two generations of the ‘Vette never really raised our pulses as much as later version. When we saw this car though, all of that changed.
You are looking at the 1962 Chevy Corvette C1RS Resto-mod. You might recognize this as the car that won the GoodGuy’s Street Machine of the Year and the SEMA GM Design Award for Best Hot Rod in 2009. Well, now that amazing rod is for sale, and we can’t imagine how high a price will be required to take it home. So, sit back and relax as we indulge in a seriously jaw dropping ride.
This car, in our minds, is a rolling work of art. Every body panel has been custom designed, and every element upgraded for the current owner of the vehicle. Talk about creating your own baby.
Underneath the gut-wrenchingly beautiful exterior lies a Roadster Shop custom tube chassis. The rolling parts employ Detroit Speed and Afco remote adjustable suspension components that attach to 3-piece Forgeline wheels (19″ in front and 20″ in the rear) and 6-pot Brembo brakes.
Of course, the engine has to be a 427 LS7 engine with Kinsler cross-ram injection. It’s good for a measily 640 hp and puts power through a Tremec 6-speed connected to a Ford (wft? Ford? Kidding.) 9-inch posi rear end. Honestly, if it has an engine from a Honda lawnmover and only when 5 mph, we’d still buy it…and drive it.
The interior is just awesome. Custom seats with European leather in red with black diamond stitched inserts. If you put these seats in a Ferrari or Lamborghini, they would immediately jump out in disgust and get right back into the ‘Vette.
The dash is custom as well (duh) with nice aluminum work and a tricked-out, superbike-looking gauge cluster. And just look at that aluminum piece behind the seats…wow!
The beauty and detail of this lovingly crafted hot rod leaves us mostly speechless. If we had only one word to describe it, it would be “guh,” which is a sound of utter bewilderment. Enzo Ferrari might have said that the Jaguar E-type was the most beautiful car ever, but then again, he never saw this one.

We’ll definitely be watching this car closely and trying to find that long lost, rich uncle that must be out there somewhere! Again, “guh”.
