Unveiled: French Designer Creates the Retro-Inspired 2015 300 SL

The current Mercedes SLS AMG is arguably one of the most stunning cars on the market. It has long, sweeping body lines, an attractive interior and a hood that goes on for days. Albeit beautiful, professional clay artist Slimane Toubal of France felt that the current SLS doesn’t do justice to the classic 300 SL Gullwing coupe of the 50′s and 60′s.

So then, how would the current SLS AMG mixed with 50′s SL design cues and a bit of French influence look? Like this (ta da!). Equally as striking as the SLS AMG, this design study took some front end cues off the current model and placed it on a smaller, classically driven frame.

Toubal created the 2015 300 SL with both a retractable hard-top convertible (rather than the current soft-top), and the standard Gullwing styling. He also added some sharper lines to the headlights and taillights, and even a some of bright orange exterior accents to match the interior color scheme.
